How to Play The Hidden Number Files on a Tablet

The free sampler runs in a browser. The paid tablet editions are interactive HTML books with tappable number registers and clues. The 30-puzzle PDF is intended for printing; it does not use PDF form boxes.

Play the five free puzzles

Open the sampler on your tablet and enter an email address to begin. The separate marketing checkbox is optional. Tap a number to cross it out; tap a clue to mark that you used it. Enter your surviving number and select Check answer. You can move between the five puzzles at your own pace.

  • The sampler contains five puzzles: one Gentle, two Standard and two Fiendish.
  • Progress saves automatically in that browser.
  • Download a progress backup before clearing browser data or changing devices; the sampler can restore it.

Use the digital book

The 100-puzzle books are standalone HTML files. After you buy a paid edition, its delivery link lets you open it in your tablet browser or download the file. The book records crosses, clue marks and your place locally in the browser you use. A downloaded HTML file's behaviour may depend on the browser and how your tablet opens local files, so the secure Play link is the straightforward option while it remains valid.

  • Tap candidates and clues instead of trying to write on a PDF.
  • Return to an unfinished puzzle in the same browser.
  • Keep your download as a personal copy.

If taps or saved progress fail

Open the book in a current browser rather than an in-app document preview. Allow browser storage and avoid private browsing if you want your progress retained. If the downloadable file will not run from your Files app, use the secure Play link in your delivery email while it is active. Contact the site if a purchased book still cannot be used as described.
