How to Use Fillable PDF Puzzle Books on iPad
Every Clue Counts casebooks use one supported interactive workflow: download the file and open it in the current free Adobe Acrobat Reader app.

1. Install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader app
Acrobat Reader is the supported app for completing and saving the interactive grids on iPad and iPhone. It is also the supported reader on Android, Windows and macOS. Apple Books and browser previews are not supported for completing the grids.
- Use the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- The form-filling workflow does not require printing.
- Keep the original download as a clean backup.
2. Download first, then open in Acrobat
Download the casebook to Files or another location you control. From the downloaded file, choose Share or Open in and select Adobe Acrobat Reader. Do not begin inside the browser preview.
- Open the downloaded copy in Acrobat Reader.
- Tap a grid cell and enter your deduction.
- Use Save or Save a copy before closing the casebook.
3. Use a consistent notation
Choose simple symbols for confirmed and excluded matches, such as a tick and a cross. Keep notes short and connect each conclusion to a clue number.
- Zoom rather than making the grid marks too small.
- Save after each case section.
- Use a second copy if you want to restart an investigation.
4. If your entries do not remain
Confirm that the file was downloaded rather than opened in a browser or Apple Books, update Acrobat Reader and open the local copy again. If a purchased casebook still does not retain entries in Acrobat Reader, contact info@everycluecounts.com so we can restore the intended functionality or provide the appropriate remedy.
